Just got a phone call from my dad. He calls weekly, so it was to be expected, but he had some interesting news this time around.
You see, my sister is a huge drama queen. If she gets a scratch, she'll blow it way out of proportion. So when she called him at work on Wednesday to tell him she had a fever (he was in Georgia at the time, and she in Cincinnati), he didn't think much of it. He got home yesterday, to her complaining about a blister on her foot. She wouldn't stop whining about it, so he had a look.
First thing he noticed was that the said blister was perfectly circular, and was surrounded by purple tissue. most of her foot was pretty swolen as well. As he examined it closer, he also noticed that, from what he could see beneath the blister itself, there was quite a bit of necrosis. He immediately deduced that it wasn't an ordinary blister, and that she'd go to the doctor today. That night, it came to him what it was: a spider bite. This was confirmed at the doctor; she had been bitten by a brown recluse spider sometime on Wednesday. The fever, swelling, and blister were all by-products of the spider's poison.
She's perfectly fine, except for the pain from the blister, but it will take a while for it to heal.
