Sterling was there today. I was entirely correct to be nervous. He tore into me like my roommates do to salt and vinegar chips. ^^; Though, he does have every right to - I have no idea what I'm doing, and he's my supervisor, after all.
Four things he wants me to accomplish ASAP:
1.) Get and learn how to use a cell phone. (He's currently loaning me the employee's whom I'm replacing.)
2.) Get a driver's license.
3.) Be able to ride my bike in this atmosphere.
4.) Get a key to the lab.
Unfortunately, I cannot possibly do the first two for several reasons, the biggest of which being I'm now officially completely broke, and don't get paid until next Friday (and even that's only going to be about $70 after taxes). No money = no either of those two (not to mention no food for this week; thank god I bought that box of corn dogs last week).
My dad still has that check from when I worked a week over the Winter break. Maybe I can harass him into actually shipping that out here. That is, if he hasn't forged my signature and cashed it himself to pay off bills. :/ God, we're poor.

1. You have no need for a cell phone other than for work.
2. You cannot afford to pay for a cell phone, especially one you don't need.
The cycling is just a matter of doing it. It'll get easier as it gets warmer, and it's much warmer now than it was just a week ago.
The others are easy after he's got some money. I think a NM DL is ~$30 and keys take a $5 deposit. If you need to get the special license to drive the NMT vehicles, they should pay for it. That's how I got mine: Langmuir Lab needed me to drive a truck for them, so they paid the fee for me to get the special license (which has the added bonus of allowing me to be able to drive vans for conventions).

With the cycling, the biggest problem has been getting oxygen to my legs; I can breathe just fine, but after about fifteen minutes, my legs turn to rubber and won't work anymore. I mean, I need to get used to it anyway though, so I might as well.
And yes, the other two are fairly easy with money; I actually took the written test for a driver's license about a year and a half ago. All I needed at the time was to see the DWI video and take the actual driving test.
